The Problem
The agony of searching for street parking at a downtown coffee shop on a Thursday afternoon, trying a new restaurant and realizing the ambiance is out to get you, attending a concert in a venue with a way-too-short stage and spending the night staring at the back of a head.
These little inconveniences make or break an experience.
Prototype a public dashboard for users to discuss local places
Develop live feed notifications to alert users about noise levels, parking, etc, all in one place
Ease the burden of having multiple apps for food reviews and suggestions
Goals
Research
Raleigh Files caters to an audience that is searching for beyond typical recommendations. They search for what’s odd, unique, or has a fantastic personality.
They also find enjoyment in the aspect of sharing. Whether it’s reviews or photos, they document their surrounds to assist others.

Task Flow
The use of files to present information invokes a feeling of secrecy to the website. “If ya know, you know.” I ran with this concept, iterating different forms of files and storage.

Dashboard Components
User Participation
The dashboard runs on user engagement. Active users can vote on recommendations, add ambiance or review photos, and contribute to live updates on different locations.
Forum & Awards
Currently, I’m in the process of developing a user information page. Here, users can organize their files and view their rewards in whole.
Work in Progress
The prospective features:
users can reminders about their destinations.
Collect additional data on recommended places based on users interests
Organize files based on visitation
Initial iterations began with developing what’s on the dashboard. The biggest problem with these drafts is a lack of congruity between elements. The chat feature feels very disconnected from the overall dashboard. Thus more iterations followed.
